On Monday 11th March, almost 60 students from Year 7 and Year 8 took part in a STEM activity day "Blast off to RIAT", run by the Smallpiece Trust in collaboration with the RAF and the Royal International Air Tattoo ✈
Students were tasked with designing and making a prototype glider in the morning using basic equipment and then refining, building and testing a more robust, powered glider in the afternoon. Whilst some designs flew further than others (with some even making multiple flights undamaged!), all students were given the opportunity to take on a team role, building teamwork, engineering and design skills.
As part of the day, students wrote a 400-word entry to competition organisers in the hope of winning VIP tickets to the Air Tattoo later this year 🎫 #TEAMLeesBrook ... See MoreSee Less

Last Thursday we celebrated Pi Day at LBA. It is always celebrated on the 14th day of the 3rd month. Thank you to all of the staff and students who got involved!🥧
• We gave out 100 pies for knowing pi to 10 decimal places or more.
• A group of Y10 mathletes (and Mrs Gregory) managed a rally of 14 shots during our pi ball session at lunch time.
• 10 students found the hidden pi symbols around the school and swapped them for a creme egg.
• All maths classes enjoyed the pi starters. A particular favourite was the 'Say What You See' during period 5.
