✨ Year 8 Trip to the Museum of Making – Science of Innovation Morning ✨ On Tuesday, a group of our Year 8 students visited the Museum of Making for an exciting Science of Innovation morning, taking part in a carousel of hands‑on STEM activities led by apprentices from across Rolls‑Royce. Students explored a range of real‑world engineering challenges, including: 🔍 Non-Destructive Testing – using sound, ultraviolet light and x‑rays to detect faults in components ⚙️ Assembly Line Design – understanding how production lines work and how they can be improved 🔥 Casting Turbine Blades – discovering how precision components for engines are formed 🔧 Material Machining & Inspection – trying out techniques used for quality checking and manufacturing Throughout the day, students also heard directly from Rolls‑Royce apprentices and industry specialists, who shared their career journeys and offered advice on pathways into engineering including roles in nuclear technologies and submarine development. This fantastic experience links perfectly to British Science Week, starting next week, with the theme: “Curiosity: what’s your question?” To get involved at home, take a look at “BSW 2026” for ideas, activities, and ways to spark curiosity together. 🔬✨ A huge thank you to Rolls‑Royce and the Museum of Making for inspiring our young scientists and engineers of the future! ...
