Year 11 students had the opportunity on Wednesday 28th November to take part in Mock Interviews that were organised by the School’s Careers Team and local company Enterprise for Education (E4E). The interviews were carried out by over 20 local employers which included Rolls Royce, Bombardier, Derby City Council, Lubrizol, Freeths Solicitors, East Midlands Airport, Marketing Derby, the Department of Work and Pensions and the Ministry of Justice.
Each student had a 20 minute interview and the experience allowed them to practice and develop vital interview skills so that they are better prepared for real College, Sixth Form or Apprenticeship interviews later this academic year. Although apprehensive before the interviews started the students conducted themselves very professionally and maturely and by the end of the process felt a lot more confident about their ability and how they came across.
The Employer’s too were very complimentary and commented on how well prepared the students were and on how well they performed during the interviews. Each received a written record of how they got on during the interview identifying their strengths and giving tips on how to improve further.
