Year 7 students have just completed a unit of work on persuasive writing which include writing a letter to a local MP. MP Chris Williamson along with Councillor Sarah Russell - Cabinet Member for Education and Skills came in to school to hear a presentation that petitions governments across the world. The 'Send my Friend to School' campaign seeks to increase community awareness of the state of education internationally and generate the political will necessary to ensure the UK plays an active and effective part in efforts to secure education for all.
The year 7 students spoke with confidence and are now eagerly awaiting responses to their letters. They are also very excited that MP Williamson is going to raise this issue in the House of Commons. Lees Brook will get a mention in dispatches!
