GCSE Modern Foreign Languages
French and German

If you have a ME of 4 or above in the language you are studying, you are strongly recommended to continue. If your ME is lower than 4, you are still welcome to continue, but please discuss this with your teacher.

The French and German GCSE courses are very practical in nature, with the emphasis on communication and comprehension. The four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing are all examined separately. All four skills are examined at the end of the course, and each has equal weighting –i.e. 25% each. The listening, reading and writing exams are carried out under exam conditions, and the speaking exam is conducted individually, one to one with your class teacher.
